Angry Birds Toons March 16 and 17 is booked for them

Rovio has made an official announcement on premiering an all new animated cartoon series, Angry Birds Toon on coming March 16 and 17. Rovio’s new video teaser of the cartoon series comes with similar story line projecting the Birds and the mischievous green pigs, and hinting at their never ending fight with each other.

After changing the face of mobile games with its iconic Angry Birds game, featuring a set of angry birds with destructive powers hitting themselves against the pigs that stole their eggs, the application developer has introduced various Angry Bird properties, one of which is this animated cartoon. The trailer of the cartoon series shows off the Birds resting in peace, enjoying with each other and nurturing their eggs, while the army of notorious pigs prepare for some attack on these.

The series will start from this March but unlike other cartoon series,  will follow a different distribution channel as it will be featured through the Angry Birds mobile app. Rovio has been reported to air the whole cartoon series in 52 short-episodes in a year.
Now that the rumors of the Angry Birds Toon series have finally turned into the reality, we are hoping to soon see John Cohen’s directed Angry Birds movie, expecting a release in 2016.

WORLD’S MOST ADMIRED COMPANY Apple lost the title

Apple Popularity Decline

Apple’s stock has taken an unprecedented beating over the past few months, and it appears as though the declining sentiment surrounding Apple is extending beyond the Street. A founding partner of Capitol Media Partners and Forbes contributor Brad Chase writes that when Forbes’ list of the ”World’s Most Admired Companies” comes out later this week, Apple will likely no longer be at the top.
“The company isn’t going to disappear anytime soon. But the value of the once-invincible brand is teetering on the edge of a long, steady drop,” Chase wrote in a column on Forbes. “Apple’s well-documented approach to fostering a virtual community and establishing an open and transparent dialogue with its customers has been one of the leading drivers in its success. And now it is the cause of its inevitable demise.”
He continued, “The phenomenon of near-universal adulation and success is fleeting. Buzz about glitches, missed deadlines and high prices have been mere nuisance for Apple thus far, but it’s indicative of widening rifts amongst its followers. The mythic glory of the invincible Apple brand is evaporating in numerous ways.”
Apple reportedly has a number of new products in the pipeline this year, and the stakes couldn’t be higher as Wall Street and consumers at large look for reasons to reverse the current souring sentiment.

Tegra 4 Benchmark defeats rivals

NVIDIA’s next-generation processors won’t be available in devices until later this year, however early benchmarks have revealed that the new chipset will be worth the wait. Engadget ran a variety of benchmark tests on one of the company’s Tegra 4 reference tablets and was left with scores that in some cases nearly quadrupled the performance of older Tegra 3 devices.
Tegra 4 Bechmarks
Tegra 4 Quadrant scores topped out at 16,436 and AnTuTu benchmarks reached over 36,000, both of which more than tripled the performance from comparable Tegra 3 tablets. Perhaps the most impressive result was the 499ms score from the SunSpider test. The Tegra 4 benchmark, which measures web browsing performance, nearly halved Apple’s iPad 4 score of 865ms.
NVIDIA and its partners are scheduled to debut Tegra 4 in smartphones, tablets and the company’s Project Shield gaming device in July.

Samsung Galaxy Grand review – Dual core with 1080p video recording support

The Samsung Galaxy Grand is powered by 1.2GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM running Jelly Bean OS with TouchWiz UI. The performance is excellent, features are impressive but Is over priced.
The Galaxy Grand Box pack
Inside the box you will find the Grand handset, a free flip cover, USB to Micro USB cable, premium quality earphone, ear plug cover, 2100 mAh battery, power adapter and user guide.
Design
Almost all of the Samsung Galaxy models have the same design. The handset is sleek (9.6mm thickness) and weighs 161 grams.  The rear side is glossy white with finger resistance coating and the front side surrounding the screen is also white color. The sides are silver colour. The Grand is available in white and metallic blue.
On the top side there is the 3.5mm jack, on left the volume rockers, on the side right the power/ lock button and on the bottom side there is the mic and micro USB port.5 inch Display
The 5 inch screen is simple TFT screen not an AMOLED screen and the display resolution is 800×480 pixels. For the price the resolution is too low. They should have given a slightly better resolution. There is light, proximity, G-sensor and magnetic sensor.
Unique feature
This handset comes with Smart stay option that makes use of the front camera to keep the screen active as long as you are viewing it. It is a good option if you are reading stuff and want to avoid the screen timing out and shutting off.
There is Auto Adjust screen tone option that will automatically adjust the tone based on the image that you are viewing to make the image livelier.
Another unique feature is the Multi Window option wherein you can run applications simultaneously within multiple windows. For example on half of the screen you can run the browser and on the other half you can chat with your friends via Google Talk or even view a movie.
Then there is the page buddy option that will fill the home screen with related pages that may be of interest to you.OS, Memory and Storage
This handset sails on the Jelly Bean OS version – 4.1.2. The Grand comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.
  • Of the 1GB RAM you get around 517MB Free.
  • Of the 8GB storage 3.9GB is allocated for apps (3.8GB available) and there is no other internal phone storage.
  • You cannot install apps on external SD card.
Performance
The dual SIM (dual Standby) Galaxy Grand is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core (ARM Cortex A9) processor (Capri_SS_Baffin) with Broadcom VideoCore IV HW GPU. The performance is excellent and this hardware can easily play 1080p (full HD) videos.
Benchmark results
  • Quadrant Benchmark: 3706.
  • Antutu Benchmark: 7746.
  • Nenamark 2:  58.9 fps.
  • Linpack : Single 46, Multi 76.
  • Multi Touch: 5 point, some users say 9, 10 points.
Connectivity
This is dual SIM handset with 3G support, there is built in Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, micro USB port and 3.5mm jack. USB tethering, Bluetooth tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot are supported.
Gaming
The handset is powerful and the benchmark scores are impressive, no doubt all games that can be played on MediaTek processor will easily run on the Grand.
8MP AF Camera
The camera quality is really good better than as seen on MediaTek processors. There is a 2MP front camera with video call support. This handset can record videos in 1080p resolution at 30fps.
There is no continuous auto focus option so when shooting videos you will need to tap the screen to focus as required.Battery
The battery is of 2100 mAh capacity, you will easily get over a day of backup time with moderate usage. There is the power saving option in settings which you can use to get more juice out of it.
Samsung Galaxy Grand review
A very good phone with lots of features but the price tag is way too high. At 21,500 this is not the phone that many users can afford. The Micromax A116 is yet to be released and it would be interesting to compare the performances. I am not sure if 1080p movies can be played on the A116.
the price of Grand should have been around 16,000 to 17,000 this would have made it an excellent buy, especially when compared (price wise) with quad core handsets that are yet to be launched. The weakest link on the Grand is the TFT screen with 800×480 pixels resolution. For this price Samsung should have added an AMOLED screen with Gorilla glass and a slightly higher resolution.

APPLE’S ‘IPHABLET’ AGAIN RUMORED FOR 2013 DEBUT

5-inch iPhone Release Date Rumor
Ahead of the holidays in 2011, Apple (AAPL) co-founder Steve Wozniak called his former company “arrogant” because it refused to accommodate users who wanted an iPhone with a larger display

Now, according to speculation from yet another industry watcher, Wozniak may finally get his wish two years later. In a recent note to clients picked up by Barron’s, Barclays Capital analyst Ben Reitzes said we should expect two new iPhones — an iPhone 5S and a new cheaper iPhone — to launch mid-year followed by a brand new iPhone with a 5-inch display sometime ahead of the holidays. An earlier report suggested a similar timeframe for the iPhone 5S and low-end iPhone, but said the larger model won’t launch until 2014.

Karbonn A111 5 inch ICS smartphone with scorpion dual core processor

The Karbonn Smart A111 is another upcoming ICS dual core handset from Karbonn already listed on the Flipkart website with a price tag of Rs. 10,290. The handset is currently not available and is expected to hit the markets, soon.
The Smart A111 is a bar type phone with dual SIM capabilities. It sports a 5 inch screen with 4 touch sensitive buttons on the front side. The screen resolution is not mentioned but I believe it could be 800×480 pixels or probably qHD.
The processor is dual core Qualcomm Scorpion clocked at 1.2GHz sailing on 512MB RAM with 4GB internal storage. Micro SD card slot is available that can hold SD card of up to 32GB. There are dual cameras a front VGA for video calls and 5MP rear camera with auto focus, LED flash, face detection and burst mode.
The Karbonn Smart A111 supports 3G (7.2 Mbps – HSDPA), 2G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack and micro USB. The handset also comes with built in FM receiver. The A111 comes with 2100 mAh battery.
The quad core handsets are delayed cause of Chinese New Year and there are just too many dual core handsets being launched recently. The price tag of Rs. 10,290 seems high especially when the quad core Karbonn S1 titanium is priced at just over 10K.
Karbonn A111 key features and specifications
  • Dual SIM, 1GHz Dual core (QUALCOMM Scorpion).
  • Android 4.0 (ICS) OS.
  • 5 inch capacitive touch screen with either 800×480 pixels or 960×540 pixels.
  • 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and micro SD slot.

Micromax A91 Spotted with 4.5 inch FWVGA Display, Dual Core MTK6577

Micromax A91 is just spotted! It’s a dual core smartphone running the MediaTek MT6577 SoC. The combination is dual Cortex A9 clocked at 1.0 GHz and PowerVR SGX531 GPU. Once again it will have 512 MB RAM which clearly suggest it’s going to be a low-cost smartphone. Micromax A91 is built in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform. The droid sports 4.5 inch display with FWVGA resolution. This is the screen resolution Micromax adopted for the high end models last year. Now they have moved to HD 720×1280 pixels in upcoming flagship A116 Canvas HD. Therefore, you can safely assume it’s going to be a low cost smartphone. One other thing playing in market is Karbonn S1 Titanium. It’s a quad core smartphone with 1 GB RAM. But the price of the Karbonn product is set to Rs 11000. Therefore, Micromax is sure to reduce the price of flagship A116 Canvas HD to around 12.5k-13k. Leaked image suggests Micromax A91 misses out LED flash which is not a good thing. One more interesting point about this handset is no IPS LCD panel is used here. It uses TFT LCD TN panel. IPS is well known for wide viewing angles. Micromax have been using this panel successfully in all recent high end smartphones. Anyway, take a look at the leaked specs-

Micromax A89 review – The Ninja with a dual core processor

The Micromax A89 is a low cost dual core handset (MTK 6577) with PowerVR SXG 531 GPU running the ICS OS over a 4 inch screen of 800×480 pixel resolution. The dual SIM handset is priced at Rs. 6,000 and comes with a 3MP FF rear camera.
The Box Pack
Inside you will find the A89, screen guard, USB to micro USB cable, Charger, earphones of a low quality that you usually get with low cost Micromax handsets, battery of 1450 mAh capacity, warranty card and user guide.
Design
The handset follows the Ninja design pattern with curvy edges. The sides are silver colour and the other part of the body is glossy black. There are 3 touch buttons on the front panel and on the top you will find the in-call speaker and the sensors. The sensors are not easily visible; they are on the left side. The box pack mentioned the G-Sensors, in fact the handset also comes with light and proximity sensors.
Display
The screen is 4 inches with supported resolution of 800×480 pixels. The touch is smooth / responsive and handset supports only 2 point multi touch.CPU + GPU
When I got this handset I was eager to know what kind of dual core hardware it is running on. The Videocon A30 and the Xolo A500 comes powered by QRD MSM 8225 dual core processor with Adreno 203 GPU. The A500 and A30 models are priced at Rs. 6,999 and these models were launched to compete with low cost MediaTek handsets.
Interestingly the Micromax A89 comes with the same hardware that powers the Micromax A110 and many other handsets. It’s MTK 6577 (MediaTek) with PowerVR SXG 531 GPU. And yet the handset is priced at around 6K even cheaper than the A30 and A500 models.
OS, Memory and Storage
The Micromax A89 Ninja handset runs on the ICS OS with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage.
  • 512 MB RAM – Free = 240MB, Used = 232MB.
  • 4GB Internal storage -  2.08GB (free) as internal storage and 503MB for apps of which 445MB is free.
  • MicroSD card slot that supports 32GB card.

Benchmark scores
  • Quadrant Benchmark: 2747.
  • Antutu Benchmark: 6845.
  • Nenamark 2:  27.4 fps.
  • Linpack : Single 36, Multi 52.
  • Multi Touch: 2 point.
Entertainment
The speaker sound is loud and clear. The MX player can play 720p videos smoothly. There is built in FM radio.
Camera
There is only one camera placed on the rear side of 3 megapixel resolution. The camera is the weakest link. You cannot record videos in 720p resolution instead the camera can record videos in max 640×480 pixels @57.77 fps.Connectivity
There is 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB port and 3.5mm jack. USB and Bluetooth tethering is supported. Wi-Fi Hotspot is supported.
Others
There is no front camera so you cannot make video calls. Using the phone dialer you can make a call directly from any of the SIM’s (you get both SIM 1 call and SIM 2 call buttons).
The light sensors work and so does the proximity sensors. There are no magnetic sensors.
Battery
The 1450 mAh battery I believe will last for a full day of moderate usage.
Micromax A89 review
The handset not only beats the single core processor that are priced around the same but also the Videocon A30 and the Xolo A500. The 3MP fixed focus camera is disappointing and you cannot record 720p videos, however 720p video playback is supported.
On the other hand the A30 and A500 comes with better camera but they cannot play 720p videos with ease, moreover these handsets can record 720p videos which is really not good at 15fps. So in all if you ignore the camera part, the Micromax A89 is definitely a good buy, especially for those with limited budget.

Micromax Canvas HD vs Karbonn Smart Titanium 1

The quad-core arms race started right at the top-end of the market and now has trickled down to the low-end of the market. Now we have two devices in the sub-Rs 15,000 price bracket that feature quad-core CPUs – the Karbonn Smart Titanium 1 and the Micromax Canvas HD. Lets see how both the devices compare with each other.
Right off the bat, one has to admit that the Canvas HD has a higher resolution 720p screen, but again it is also a larger display at 5-inches. The Karbonn Smart Titanium on the other hand has a 4.5-inch qHD display.
Both are powered by quad-core SoCs. The Micromax Canvas HD leverages a MediaTek CPU while Karbonn depends upon Qualcomm for its chipset. We don’t know which CPU is the better performer, so we’ll just need to wait and watch.
The Micromax Canvas HD has an 8-megapixel camera, while Smart Titanium 1 only has a 5-megapixel rear camera. It is a well known fact that a higher-megapixel count is not a metric to measure a cameras image quality.
The Micromax Canvas HD has a higher 2,000 mAh battery, while the Karbonn Smart Titanium has a much smaller 1,600 mAh battery.
Both devices have dual-SIM capabilities and both can run on 3G networks. Additionally, both run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

More over if one is price conscious, then the Karbonn Smart Titanium wins out hands down owing to its Rs 10,990 price. The Micromax Canvas HD on the other hand costs Rs 15,000.

HTC Butterfly vs Sony Xperia Z

Today, HTC launched the HTC Butterfly in India, making it the first smartphone to be launched with a 1080p display and the quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor in India. This however will not be the only of its kind. Soon we will see the HTC Butterfly have an armada of competition and this will almost surely start with the delectable Sony Xperia Z we saw first at CES. We pit both the devices in a head-to-head specification comparison, read on to find out more.
While 1080p displays is the theme, the HTC Butterfly is not a solo roadrunner in this party. Even the Sony Xperia Z boasts a 5-inch 1080p panel that matches the PPI count of the Butterfly.
The Xperia Z goes one step further and adds waterproof and dust protection, however even the Butterfly touts similar water resistance which makes both these devices resistant to water induced damage.
Both devices share the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset that has quad-cores and a clock speed of 1.5GHz. Additionally both also have 2GB of RAM embedded for a silky smooth experience.
When it comes to photography, both the Butterfly and the Xperia Z have some laud worthy chops of their own. The Butterfly has an 8-megapixel camera with HTC’s image sense chip. It even has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera that as a wide-angle lens which makes it perfect for video calls. The Sony Xperia Z puts all this imaging business to mockery with its latest 13-megapixel sensor that can shoot HDR for video and stills on the fly. It also has a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.
In the memory department it’s a stalemate between the Butterfly and the Xperia Z. Both the devices also have microSD card slots to boot.
Even in the battery department, the Xperia Z has a slightly ahead of the Butterfly thanks to its 2,330 mAh battery. The Butterfly on the other hand has a smaller 2,020 mAh battery.
So all this makes us believe that as much as we’d love to say that the Butterfly is the best in the business, it will not hold that title for long and if one is considering shelling out so much money, it will be advisable to wait for a bit. That said, new phones keep coming out all the time and we always say that if you need a phone buy it now don’t wait for something better, because there will always be something better in the near future.
